Short description of the Institution:

Károli Gáspár University was founded by the General Assembly of the Reformed Church in Hungary in 1993. The legal predecessor of our University was the Reformed Theological Academy of Budapest, founded in 1855 and granted university status by the Parliament of the Republic of Hungary in 1993. Our University, in the spirit of universitas scientiarum, aims to contribute to the spiritual growth not only of the Church, but also of our nation, through its educational, teaching and academic work.

The prime aims and tasks of our University are to integrate Hungary into the cultural network of Europe. We seek to continue to build and meaningfully preserve our traditional and new relations not only in the countries of the European Union but on other continents as well. The University provides education in the fields of humanities, law and political sciences, theology and teacher training. Our chief goals are to establish a diversified, broadly-based, high-level educational system in conformity with Reformed Church heritage, and thus to train graduates and school teachers with a thorough grounding in Biblical traditions. Beyond academic training the other target of our institution is to promote research activities.
